Design across every platform
Design for Churches & Faith-Based Organizations
SERVING FAITH COMMUNITIES WITH CLARITY, CREATIVITY, AND CARE.
Churches and ministries have been at the heart of my work for over 25 years — from staff roles at Mariners Church in Southern California and Vineyard Columbus in Ohio, to ongoing freelance work with congregations across the country. I understand the unique communication needs of faith communities: the rhythm of the church calendar, the importance of visual consistency across a multi-campus system, and the care required when design serves something larger than a brand. Whether you need a sermon series identity, a full website redesign, campaign collateral, or ongoing visual support, I bring both the technical skills and the cultural fluency to get it right.
about Me
I'm Nanette McKenney, a Columbus-based freelance designer and founder of Oleander Design. With over 25 years of design experience, I've worked with a wide range of clients — churches, nonprofits, educational institutions, pharmacies, and small businesses and entrepreneurs of all kinds.
I’ve always been an early adopter of web technologies—I started by teaching myself HTML and CSS, and later expanded into tools like Dreamweaver, WordPress, and Squarespace. On the print side, I’ve designed everything from business cards and brochures to banners, booklets, and even billboards. I’m proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, and I’ve also managed Instagram and Facebook accounts for a variety of organizations.
I earned my BFA in Ceramic Sculpture from California State University, Long Beach. When I’m not designing, you can usually find me reading, making ceramic art and pottery, knitting, taking on home DIY projects, or spending time with my family.
